Start with today. Just do what you need to do, today. Don’t worry about tomorrow, or the next day, or the next week…
Just do what you need to for THIS day. Decide in your heart that THIS is the day the Lord has made, and you will REJOICE, and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24). We cannot rejoice and be glad in our present day when we are all-consumed with planning our future days, weeks, months – and for some of us, even years.
Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE to plan, and I definitely plan most everything I do from week to week. However, this can become a problem for us when we spend so much time planning that we neglect the present moment and/or plan so many details of every single thing that we FORGET to TRUST in God’s plans. We must trust that God’s plans are better than our own, and if we do choose to plan and make schedules for ourselves, these can be GOOD things, we just need to make sure these plans and schedules are not being put before our Creator himself.
Jesus tells us in his word, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own”, (NIV). We can be mindful of the times ahead of us and recognize their significance and importance, while also remembering God’s faithfulness and sovereignty and trusting that no matter WHAT happens to us, GOD is on the throne of heaven and he is taking care of us.
God is always looking out for us. No “failed” plans have ever surprised him. He knows our futures and he has never worried about them once. We may not SEE God physically here on this earth, but we can certainly trust that he is taking care of every single little (and big) detail of our lives.
Below is a final passage to reflect on as I conclude this post. I hope this post is encouraging to you and can be a reminder to you that God has ALWAYS, and WILL always, take precious, amazing care of us as his sons and daughters.
Matthew 6:28-30: “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautiful as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?”, (NLT).
