A book recommendation!

Hey friends! I wanted to write about a book I have been reading recently that has been SUPER encouraging to me. The book is called “Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire” by Jim Cymbala and Dean Merrill. This book is about the Brooklyn Tabernacle church, and Pastor Cymbala writes about what can happen in our churches (and in our lives in general) when we live in complete surrender to the Holy Spirit. This church has some incredible stories of how the Lord has used people to speak to and encourage others in amazing ways, and sometimes you even read about the Holy Spirit doing miraculous healings right before your eyes! It is truly amazing to read this book and see the incredible movement of God within these church and the lives of the congregants. I will conclude this post with my FAVORITE quote from the book that is extremely thought-provoking and convicting:

“I despaired at the thought that my life might slip by without seeing God show himself mightily on our behalf.”

Hello! My name is Leah Callen, I am 27 years old and I am a recent graduate of Asbury Theological Seminary. I am working to pursue a full-time career in hospital chaplaincy! I love to care for and encourage others in any way I can, and it is my hope that writing posts in this blog will be even a small way of doing that for whoever reads it. Living out our Christian faith is not easy, and I believe it is done best in community with other believers, seeking to help each other grow and to commit to being there for each other when life gets hard.
